Thu, 20 Nov 2008 14:54:51 PST- A one-dimensional offense has prevented the Gamecocks from achieving great things this season.
South Carolina Football ranks dead last in the SEC in rushing at 99 yards per game. In Saturday's blowout loss to Florida, the Gamecocks threw on nearly every play after the first quarter.
The passing attack didn't click, either. Neither Chris Smelley nor Stephen Garcia was effective in the 56-6 defeat.
Now coach Steve Spurrier says he'll consider going with one quarterback when the Gamecocks return to the field Nov. 29 at Clemson. "I guess one way to look at it, I'm glad these bad things didn't happen in some of the close games we've had this year," Spurrier told The State newspaper. "Hopefully, we got a lot of it out of our system, and we can get ready to play a...

Sat, 15 Nov 2008 18:00:08 PST-The Ol' Ball Coach never experienced anything like this. Not as a player. Not as a coach. Not at Florida. Not at Duke. Not at South Carolina. Not even with the USFL's Tampa Bay Bandits or with the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers, San Francisco 49ers and Washington Redskins. Percy Harvin ran for a career-high 167 yards and two touchdowns, Tim Tebow accounted for three scores and No.
Sat, 15 Nov 2008 16:48:00 PST- Steve Spurrier's a golfer. He'd probably like a mulligan after this round. Third-ranked Florida, keyed by 21...

Thu, 20 Nov 2008 21:00:24 GMT- SCOUTING THE OFFENSE: The Gamecocks have a middle-of-the-pack offense that averages 22.4 points per game. Their quarterback platoon of Chris Smelley and Stephen Garcia floundered at Florida, so coach Steve Spurrier might scrap that system. The Gamecocks' biggest problem has been a total inability to run the ball. They rank dead last in the SEC with 99 rushing yards per game.
Thu, 20 Nov 2008 21:00:25 GMT- PLAYERS TO WATCH:
LB Eric Norwood -- The junior leads the SEC with nine sacks. Against Florida, he had two sacks and returned a fumble 28 yards.
S Emanuel Cook -- He ranks 10th in the SEC with 7.4 tackles per game.
TE Jared Cook -- The junior is one of eight semifinalists for the Mackey Award. He's ninth in the SEC with 49.8 receiving yards per game and averages 16.1 yards per catch.
Thu, 20 Nov 2008 19:16:09 GMT-The 6' 2", 225 pound linebacker has been a terror on the field
for the past three seasons at Florida A&M. The '06 and '07 campaigns saw him
total over 200 tackles each season.
